Hodad’s is a burger joint downtown. I prefer the location in Ocean Beach because it is the original and has a cooler vibe, but the hamburgers are the same and that’s a damn good thing.

Hodad’s is a staple in the area and many would argue that it serves the best hamburger in San Diego. Being from Texas, I love BBQ and Burgers and the burgers at Hodad’s rank among the best that the city has to offer. But, don’t take my word for it, try them for yourself!

I most definitely insist that you start off with the Onion Rings. They are so good, hot and served with ranch. We like to get them as an appetizer. Warning! The burgers are huge! If you got the onion ring appetizer that I suggested, you might want to order the mini-bacon cheeseburger. When I get the Single-Bacon Cheeseburger I can barely walk as I head out. Beware of the Double-Bacon cheeseburger! It’s been known to take down the weak! Oddly enough, one of the things that stand-out with a Hodad burger is the fresh vegetables! It’s not like me to point that out, but it’s true.

They really make the burger complete. I usually can’t handle a milkshake with my meal, but I have stopped by Hodad’s on numerous occasions just to grab one to go. They are all delish! A must try!
