Karl Strauss Tasting Room has many locations around town, but one of my favorites is old faithful: The Karl Strauss Tasting Room. The brewery and tasting room is a beautiful environment just east of the 5 off of Balboa Ave., it can be pretty tricky getting back to it, so make sure and take a look at the map below. As you can see in my pictures the design and architecture is super cool and rustic at The Karl Strauss Tasting Room. This a very large tasting room with outdoor seating and heaters. Everyone knows that Karl Strauss brews really good beer. The Karl Strauss Tasting Room is close to the beach and a great spot to get yourself an afternoon stout, no doubt!

Red Trolley Ale:

A medium-bodied beer with heavyweight malts.
We brew it with a half ton of caramelized malts for a rich copper color and toffee flavor. After adding the perfect mix of hops for balance, we warm ferment the beer to bring out a hint of dried raisins and currants. The complexity of flavors makes Red Trolley Ale a hearty and truly enjoyable beer.

Tower 10 IPA:

We fill the brew kettle to the brim with assertive Chinook hops, giving the beer intense grapefruit and pine flavors that linger through its dry finish. After fermentation, we dry hop with a blend of Cascade and Centennial hops for a floral citrus aroma. A touch of lightly kilned caramel malts make Tower 10 a well balanced, full flavored IPA.

Karl Strauss Amber:

Imported Munich malts give our original flagship the deep bronze color and crisp toasted malt flavors of a Vienna-style lager, while Cascade hops and our proprietary yeast strain lend a smooth body and clean finish. Brewed in small batches since 1989, Karl Strauss Amber remains San Diego’s original session beer.

Intail Pale Ale:

Dynamic citrus and pine flavors from Newport and Cascade hops give the beer direction, while fine pale malts provide balance. The remarkable floral aroma from dry hopping with Amarillo hops makes this beer as enjoyable as cruising down to the beach, board in tow.
